Freshwater

The Patient Angler takes pride in providing honest, first hand fly fishing information on all local waters.  We have free maps on local rivers and lakes showing fishing access, boat launches and campgrounds.  After suggesting where to go based on your interest, we can help you with fly selections for the area and time of year as well as useful tactics that will help make your outing more productive.  We also have the experience and knowledge to help you with most popular fishing waters across the country as well as international fishing hot spots.   Because The Patient Angler has a strong customer base of local anglers, local guides and the fact that all the employees spend most of their days off fishing, we usually have our finger on the pulse of what's hot and what's not.  Give us a call or drop by the shop, we would love to fill you in on the latest hatch or the hottest new fly pattern.

Saltwater

One of our strongest areas of expertise is in saltwater fly-fishing. Not what you might expect from a fly shop located in Central Oregon, but we have over 30 years experience fishing in beautiful locations around the world chasing a broad spectrum of saltwater game fish.  The world of saltwater fly fishing has no limits and often unparalleled in the raw power, stamina and pure excitement of fighting saltwater game fish on the fly.  It’s left to the imagination of the angler, where and what they would like to catch.

Imagine yourself standing in 10” of crystal clear 80 degree water on a never ending flat that’s probably never seen another angler in the Turks & Caicos Islands casting to double digit bonefish, or fishing for toothy Barracuda as long as your leg in the Bahamas. Maybe your dream is catching Roosterfish & Jack Crevalle off the warm sandy beaches of the east cape of Baja or catching Tuna & Marlin on the fly in the pacific.  How a about catching & releasing 20 or more sailfish per day on the fly off the tropical coast of Guatemala?

No matter what your dream, we have the gear, flies, knowledge and experience needed to help you with your saltwater adventures.  You tell us what species of fish you want to catch and we’ll help you with where to go, what gear you’ll need and the techniques & tactics used to make that dream fish a reality.  We host saltwater trips and have recommendations for guides and lodging for many locations that we have explored.

Give us a call - we'll help you get into some 80 degree water. (541) 389-6208
